Bhaddanta Dr. Nodhiñāṇa (Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages & Translation)
Venerable Sayadaw Nodhiñāṇa was born on 1st July 1971 Sin-Phyu-Kyun, Salin Township, Magwe Division. Sayadaw became a novice when he was 11 years old (1982) in the monastery of Sone-Kone Village; ordained as a Full-fledged monk on 28th Feb: 1991, in Ban-Maw Monastery. He dedicated his life for the purpose of studying the Buddha's teachings and Pāḷi language in his prime age. Then he proceeded learning at the state Pariyatti Sāsana University in Mandalay. There he graduated with the Sāsaṇatakkasila Dhammacariya degree (B.A) in Buddha Dhamma. During the next level, he did research under well-qualified professor and acquired much knowledge on Pāḷi grammar based upon Philology. Then he obtained the Sāsaṇatakkasila Mahādhammacariya degree (M.A) in Buddha Dhamma.
Afterwards, Sayadaw joined ITBMU and graduated with a Doctoral degree. Sayadaw's skills were seen not only in the field of learning but also in teaching. Sayadaw is a well-reckoned Pāḷi teacher, who could teach deep Pāḷi grammar and translations using simple method. During each semester, Sayadaw conducts a Pāḷi extra class, where students could enhance their Pāḷi knowledge rapidly. At pesent Sayadaw is Dean of Foreign Languages and Translation faculty in International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University.
